Uses of Radio iodine
A very large exposure to radioactive iodine is sure to increase the chances for humans to be diagnosed with thyroid cancer. So we should avoid over exposure to radioactive iodine. The radioactive iodine is also called as radioiodine. It is chiefly used in the treatment of cancer and other health problems related to the thyroid gland. It is also used when nuclear imaging of the kidney is needed. If a nuclear disaster takes place in a particular area, the people in that area are given potassium iodide to prevent the intake of radioactive iodine by the thyroid gland present in our body.
